The Spring Carnival is just around the corner, and we continue to gear up at Flemington on Saturday!
Nine races will be run and won, and with so much talent on display, some terrific betting events have materialised as well.

VRC Member Annabel Cobain Sprint (1000m) – 12pm
Scorsese only just missed at his first run back from a break, and I am confident that he’ll be in the finish again at Flemington on Saturday at a price ($12 at publish).
Scorsese is yet to break his maiden in three previous trips to the races, but he has placed twice, including a nice effort behind Outback Miss at Caulfield first-up.
With natural improvement, I am confident that he can fight into the finish of something like this, and we can have an each way play at the price.

L.V Lachal Handicap (1700m) – 12:35pm
Magnaspin has improved for two competitive starts back this time and looks primed to strike at HQ on Saturday.
The Magnus gelding finished fourth, beaten only a length by the talented Brung King first-up from a break, before hitting the line to fill the minors at Caulfield at his latest.
Fitter third-up and out to the 1700m this week, I think it looks the perfect race for him.

RMBL Investments Rising Stars Final (1600m) – 1:10pm
Pitchanun has returned to the races an improved horse this time and rates as a key winning chance again at Flemington.
The Danny O’Brien-trained mare recorded consecutive wins at Geelong and Sandown two and three starts back, and she was only just denied by an eye-catching Flash Flood at Sandown at her latest.
She steps out this week in peak order, should relish a mile at Flemington, and she gets some relief in the weights under in-form apprentice Celine Gaudray.
Suggested Bet: No. 2 Pitchanun
VRC Member Shane Murray Handicap (1400m) – 1:45pm
Legio Ten has looked excellent since returning to the races, and I am confident that he can return to winning form at Flemington on Saturday.
The Godolphin gelding ended his last prep with a lovely win in maiden company and picked up where he left off with consecutive victories at Bendigo and here at Flemington.
Having filled the minors behind Renosu in Listed company at his latest, he takes his place in this arguably weaker race in peak order.
Suggested Bet: No. 4 Legio Ten
Bylerley Handicap (1800m) – 2:20pm
Dolphin Skin looks to have a very bright future, and she can continue her rise through the grades at HQ on Saturday.
The Team Corstens-trained filly has made just three appearances at the races since debuting, all here at Flemington, and highlighted by an eye-catching win over a mile in Listed company last time out.
The 1800m this week looks ideal, and she harbours plenty of upside.
Suggested Bet: No. 1 Dolphin Skin
Deane Lester Flemington Cup (2800m) – 3pm
Mostly Cloudy has improved with each of his three starts since arriving in Australia, and the Deane Lester Flemington Cup looks a perfect target for him.
The Harzand gelding returned some excellent performances in the UK earlier in his career, finding form around some excellent horses, but he clearly needed his first run in Australia to tune up when beaten nearly ten lengths at Sandown back in May.
Since then, he’s hit the line to fill the minors in races at Mornington and Rosehill Gardens, and he’ll absolutely eat up the 2800m at Flemington on Saturday.
Suggested Bet: No. 8 Mostly Cloudy
VRC Member Rebecca Sutherland Sprint (1200m) – 3:40pm
Skywolf returned a winner in BM84 company at Caulfield when resuming and rates as a key winning chance again this weekend at nice odds ($9 at publish).
The Team Hawkes-trained sprinter has been a good horse throughout his career, recording five wins and two minors from just eleven starts, and finding form around some talented opposition.
He’s a winner at this point of his preparation previously and is another whom we can have something on each way.
Suggested Bet: No. 8 Skywolf
VRC Member Clint Jellis Trophy (2000m) – 4:15pm
Floating Artist makes his return to the races at Flemington on Saturday, and the fact that he’s launching over the 2000m suggests to me that he’s quite forward.
The classy import has obviously been a notable performer for Maher & Eustace since arriving in Australia, finishing fourth in a Melbourne Cup most notably, while his two runs back in autumn of this year came off a lengthy break.
He’s had the benefit of a trial leading up to this return, and he does have a lot of these rivals covered for class.
Suggested Bet: No. 1 Floating Artist
Trevor Clarke Handicap (1000m) – 4:48pm
No Way Ever hasn’t been seen at the races since March, but she is a multiple fresh winner, and this looks a nice kick-off point for her.
The daughter of No Nay Never returned some nice performances last time in, highlighted by a win over the likes of Unflinching at Sandown.
She’s two from three at this point of her prep and can fight out the finish again.
