Waterhouse and Bott loading options for Magic Millions 2023

Platinum Jubilee’s defeat in the Drinkwise Plate (1100m) at Randwick last Saturday might have been disappointment for those who backed it at $2.80, but co-trainer Adrian Bott isn’t seeing too many negatives out of the second placing to Fire Lane as the two-year-old filly heads to the Gold Coast next month.

“There are a lot of positives to come out of (the run),” Bott said.

“The versatility in her racing pattern, that style of run should bring her on nicely, getting a line on the other horses in the market for the Magic Millions – we certainly got a line of where she is at in that regard.”

The Zoustar filly is equal favourite at $6 for the Magic Millions 2yo Classic on January 14 along with Empire Of Japan who finished third in that same race at Randwick.

“I think she is right on track with a good deal of improvement to come,” Bott added

“She will go straight there now. That was always the plan, to have one run here and have the three weeks into the race.”

Platinum Jubilee will be joined by Saturday’s Group 3 BJ McLachlan Stakes (1200m) winner The Novelist who has firmed into $8, Summer Loving – third-placed in the Listed Magic Millions Wyong 2yo Classic (1100m) on December 14.

Summer Loving, a two-year-old filly by Exceed And Excel, will be among Tulloch Lodge’s three-pronged attack on the $2 million feature.

“Summer Loving is up in Queensland, she will trial up there during the week and she will take her place,” Adrian Bott said.

“Potentially, a couple of horses will race up in Queensland prior to the race but we’re hoping to at least have those three.”

Summer Loving is rated a $15 chance for the Magic Millions highlight.
