The continued spate of wet tracks in Sydney has forced David Pfieffer to send Laure Me In to Melbourne in search of better ground.

Laure Me In travelled to Melbourne on Thursday night to run in the Travis Harrison Cup (1600m) at The Valley on Saturday.

The Valley was rated as a Soft 6 on Friday and will be hosting its first meeting since March after undergoing its annual renovation.

When Laure Me In started his campaign Pfieffer had the Coffs Harbour Cup (1600m) on August 4 as the target for preparation.

“The plan was to come in and I had a four-start preparation for him finishing in the Coffs Harbour Cup and the rain has just ripped it apart,” Pfieffer said.

“The old boy is loving life at the moment, but we can’t find a good track.

“He’s a seven, rising eight-year-old and he would not know it. He is bouncing around, he’s squealing and carrying on and that’s how you want your older horses.

“He is going so well that I don’t want to keep putting duck eggs next to his name because he is going around on heavy tracks.

“Although Moonee Valley isn’t going to be his ideal track, he has performed well there in the past so that gave me a bit more confidence when I looked deeper into his form.”

A former member of the Tony and Calvin McEvoy stable, Laure Me In was placed at The Valley before transferring to Pfieffer in 2019.

And Pfieffer has been able to secure the service of Damian Lane.

“Ï think he will be competitive,” Pfieffer said.

“From gate two, he’s a big horse, it’s hard to know what sort of run he will get in transit, but Damien Lane is one of the best in the country.

“I’ll leave that up to him.”
