WFA George Ryder Stakes attracts 15 runners

A field of 15 has paid up for the Group One George Ryder Stakes at Rosehill in which Irish sprinter-miler Gordon Lord Byron will make his Australian debut.

The import, to be ridden by Craig Williams, has drawn gate five, immediately outside Toydini who will be one of two runners for trainer Guy Walter along with Streama (barrier three).

Walter will rely on that pair on Saturday following a career-ending injury to his leading autumn prospect Appearance.

Chris Waller has four runners headed by last-start winner Boban who has gate nine while the up-and-coming Terravista has gate 12 in his quest to deliver Joe Pride Group One wins on successive Saturdays.

Three-year-olds El Roca and Eurozone will take on the older horses from barriers 11 and one respectively.

The George Ryder Stakes is a traditional lead-up race to the Doncaster Mile run at Randwick on April 12.
