Wodonga races moved to Echuca

Heavy rain has resulted in the transfer of a race meeting from Wodonga to Echuca.

Victoria’s spate of wet weather in the north-east of the state has forced the transfer of a meeting.

Racing Victoria announced on Friday that the meeting at Wodonga on Saturday has been shifted to Echuca.

After a track inspection by stewards, the Wodonga track was deemed unsuitable for racing following 72mm of rain in the past week.

Further rainfall was expected in Victoria’s north-east so the decision was made to transfer the meeting to Echuca.

All early scratchings have been re-instated with trainers having until 7.30am on Saturday to scratch from the meeting.

The track at Echuca has been rated a Heavy 9.

The transfer has resulted in race one, a maiden over 2050m being extended to 2100m and race 8, a benchmark 0-58, being extended from 1590m to 1600m.

Saturday’s transfer comes after the Ballarat meeting on Sunday was moved by RV on Thursday to Werribee.
