Ogier wins Rally Mexico for the fifth time

Defending champion Sebastien Ogier has won the Rally Mexico for the fifth time to go second in the World Rally Championship drivers standings.

It was Ogier and Citroen’s second win of the season with the the reigning WRC champion comfortably holding out his opposition.

The Frenchman, who had led since Friday afternoon, finished 30.2 seconds clear of Estonia’s championship leader Ott Tanak, with Welshman Elfyn Evans in a ford a further 19.7 seconds back.

After three rounds of the 2019 campaign, Toyota’s Tanak leads on 65 points, four ahead of Ogier while Hyundai’s Belgian Thierry Neuville is third on 55.
