Ford driver David Reynolds will start Sunday’s 300km V8 Supercars race on the Gold Coast from pole position.
The Team Bottle-O Racing driver clocked a fastest lap of one minute, 10.048 seconds in the 30-minute qualifying session to take pole ahead of Nissan’s James Moffat.
Championship-chasing Holden duo Craig Lowndes and Jamie Whincup will fill the second row of the grid after qualifying third and fourth respectively.
Whincup is aiming to bounce back after failing to finish Saturday’s race which was won by teammate Lowndes, who now holds a 36-point championship lead.
Ford’s Will Davison, who remains in striking distance of the championship lead, will start from seventh while his teammate Mark Winterbottom could only manage the 11th spot on the grid.
Bathurst 1000 champion Winterbottom goes into the race third in the championship standings, just 49 points behind Lowndes.
Sunday’s 102-lap race at the Surfers Paradise street circuit begins at 1.45pm AEST (1445AEDT).
