Gold Coast have got their man with star halfback Ash Taylor announcing a three-year contract extension with the NRL club.
The Titans beat Queensland rivals Brisbane for the young talent’s services, with recently-appointed coach Garth Brennan integral in the deal given his existing mentoring role with the playmaker.
Announced on Wednesday, the deal will keep Taylor on the Gold Coast until at least 2021.
“I love it here at the Titans and, although it took a while to sort out the terms of the new deal, I never really considered going anywhere else,” 22-year-old said.
“I’m really pleased with the appointment of Garth as I’ve had some personal involvement with him in the past.
Brennan had hinted at Taylor’s “imminent” signing at his unveiling last week and was pleased to have locked his key piece in place.
“Ash is a tremendous man and an outstanding footballer who is central to our plans as we look to build a winning culture,” the coach said.
Titans boss Graham Annesley said it was a big win for the club.
“This is a great outcome,” he said.
“The vote of confidence shown by Ash and his management further demonstrates our commitment and determination to build a club that everyone on the Gold Coast can be proud of.”
