Ben Hunt wins Origin call-up for decider

Queensland have snubbed Daly Cherry-Evans and handed a State of Origin debut to recently out-of-favour halfback Ben Hunt for July 12’s series decider at Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane.

Coach Kevin Walters, who named his team alphabetically, couldn’t find a spot in his 17 for the form Manly playmaker, with Melbourne’s Cameron Munster to also debut for the Maroons against NSW.

Munster is a five-eighth contender alongside Michael Morgan for injured superstar Johnathan Thurston, but he could line up in the centres as Darius Boyd’s replacement.

QUEENSLAND: Will Chambers, Gavin Cooper, Cooper Cronk, Dane Gagai, Matt Gillett, Tim Glasby, Coen Hess, Valentine Holmes, Ben Hunt, Josh McGuire, Michael Morgan, Cameron Munster, Dylan Napa, Josh Papalii, Billy Slater, Cameron Smith (capt), Jarrod Wallace.
