The Broncos would’ve been relieved to have left Campbelltown Stadium with the two competition points last Friday night after narrowly defeating the West Tigers 16 – 14.

The Broncos broke a 14 – all deadlock with a penalty goal inside of the final four minutes but then put Coach and supporters through torture as from the kick-off, they lost possession and inexplicably turned it over again in the final minute, giving the Tigers one last shot.

Ultimately they hung on to record their first back-to-back wins since the opening two rounds of the season.

It wasn’t a convincing win though and up against a generally ruthless Manly, they’ll have to produce a much better effort to make it three victories on the trot.

Their three Origin players, Hodges, Parker and Gillett have been named in the team for this clash along with Sam Thaiday, who has missed in the past month due to a calf injury, also returning.

Thaiday is a big plus for the Broncos and his inclusion gives the Broncos their strongest forward pack for some time.

MANLY
Manly were short-priced favourites to account for the Knights when hosting the besieged club in round 10 however, their supporters and the punters who took the shorts, were left holding their breath as the game was locked up entering the final minutes of the match.

Queensland’s half-back in waiting, Daley Cherry-Evans, stepped up to save the day for the Sea Eagles by slotting a field goal right on full time, giving the home-side a 15 – 14 win, their fourth from their past five matches.

Last week they had the bye which was timely as it gave five-eight Keiran Foran and captian and centre Jamie Lyon, another weeks rest with injury.

Both players have been named in the side for this weekend’s clash, giving Manly who are largely unaffected by Origin, a very strong looking side.

HEAD TO HEAD
Brisbane have lost their last four matches against Manly and can only boast two wins over them from their past eleven encounters.

Manly start well and with fresher legs, should be able to again here so look for the first scoring play option.

Steve Matai has been the first to score for Manly several times this season and has bagged three tries from his last two outings against Brisbane. The $11 about him to score first again appeals.

Brisbane are 2 – 3 at home this year and without a significant improvement on the past two rounds, may be 2 – 4 come Sunday evening.
