Brisbane centre Justin Hodges in doubt

Star Brisbane centre Justin Hodges is in some doubt for Friday night’s NRL showdown with premiers Manly after limping off the training paddock on Thursday with a foot injury.

While Bronco’s coach Anthony Griffin was confident the ligament injury below his ankle would respond to treatment he said either Matt Gillett or Ben Te’o would take Hodges’s place if necessary.

Hodges failed to complete the team’s final session at Red Hill to have physio on his injury.

Griffin said he would consult the club’s doctor later in the day and make a decision on Friday as to whether Hodges was fit to play.

“We won’t be taking too much of a risk with him but the physio is fairly confident that it will settle down,” said Griffin.

“It was just a bit uncomfortable for him out there, it’s just a little ligament problem and it was a little sore.

“Obviously we want him out there but if he’s no good, he’s no good.

“The one thing you can’t do against Manly is take in someone whose half fit. We won’t be doing that.”

Brisbane play Manly in the first game of a big double header with the Canterbury Bulldogs taking on the Gold Coast Titans in the second game.
