Off-contract veteran Alex Glenn admits he is sweating on his NRL future but says nothing will distract him from helping Brisbane prove the doubters wrong in Sunday’s elimination final against Parramatta.

Broncos coach Anthony Seibold has been on record saying a new two-year deal is in the works for 31-year-old Glenn, who has made a successful switch from the back-row to the centres in his 11th season at Red Hill.

However, former Kiwi international Glenn said on Friday he was no closer to inking a new deal ahead of their sudden-death clash at Bankwest Stadium and admitted it was playing on his mind.

Asked if this would be his last finals series with Brisbane, Glenn said: “I don’t know and I wish could tell you too.

“It (NRL future) is in the back of the mind, that uncertainty, because I have to provide for my family.

“But the thing that has got me through is handling my business on the field.

“That will do the talking for me. The rest is up behind the scenes to my manager.”

Instead, Glenn said his focus was bolstering a Broncos outfit he believed had been written off after they scraped into eighth spot.

Brisbane had to rely on other results to clinch a finals berth against fifth-placed Parramatta at a sold out Bankwest Stadium after an upset last round 30-14 loss to Canterbury.

“There have been a lot of games where people have doubted us and we proved them wrong and became victorious,” Glenn said.

“I know we didn’t have our best game last week but that was a learning curve and we survived that and we are still in the finals.

“We want to prove the doubters wrong with a strong performance.

“I always had confidence that we would be in the finals and we are here and are ready to rock this week.”
