Heavyweight centres Joey Leilua (Canberra) and James Roberts (South Sydney) won’t play again for the rest of the NRL regular season after accepting two match bans.
The pair both took early guilty pleas after they were charged by the match review committee – Leilua with dropping his knees into Manly’s Reuben Garrick, an incident that cost his side an eight-point try in the Sea Eagles’ dramatic 18-14 win on Sunday.
Roberts was charged with dangerous contact after his elbow to the head of Brisbane’s Corey Oates.
Parramatta lock Nathan Brown is also out for the remaining two rounds after his early guilty plea to a shoulder charge on the Bulldogs’ Dallin Watene-Zelezniak.
Canterbury winger Reimis Smith accepted a one-game ban for head-butting Eels rival Maika Sivo as did Gold Coast hooker Mitch Rein, who was charged with a dangerous throw after his attempt to tackle Melbourne’s Brandon Smith.
Storm centre Curtis Scott, Panther Brent Naden and Souths’ Jaydn Su’A all took early guilty pleas but escaped suspension.
