Cronulla have confirmed that Josh Morris’s request for a release has been rejected as they named the disgruntled star centre in their NRL Nines squad.

Morris had hoped to join his brother Brett at premiers Sydney Roosters, reportedly being “filthy” over being pushed to the wing after the Sharks’ recruitment of Jesse Ramien from Newcastle.

However, the Sharks have not only blocked the request but also named Morris in a strong Nines squad that also features Ramien, Shaun Johnson, Chad Townsend and Aaron Woods.
