Cronulla Sharks vs Penrith Panthers Preview
The Sharks could earn their way back into the eight with a win on Friday night, but Josh Hannay’s side still has a big mountain to climb against a Panthers team playing with a point to prove.
Penrith had its 12-game winning streak snapped against the Tigers last week, albeit due to a handful of their stars resting for Origin.
It’s tough to know who will be included on the short turnaround, but if the Panthers can at least get Nathan Cleary or Brian To’o on the field, they should go a long way to winning this game.
The Panthers have already played the Sharks once this year, not that you need to remind fans of Cronulla.
Penrith walked away with a 48-0 shutout when these two sides met in May and a similar margin would not surprise considering the Panthers have almost doubled the Sharks’ scoring total this year.
Market Update: The Sharks have been well supported in this game which is no surprise given the uncertainty around which players will return after Wednesday’s Origin game.
We saw last week what happened to the undermanned Panthers side. They do remain strong favourites for this one but their price has drifted from $1.28 to $1.50.
