Parramatta winger Blake Ferguson has been sidelined indefinitely and could miss the rest of the NRL season.
In a massive blow to the Eels’ finals chances, the NSW State of Origin star remains hospitalised due to a knee infection with the club unable to give a return date.
Coach Brad Arthur told News Corp that the club’s medical staff was unable to put a timeline on his return to the field.
Ferguson, who came to the club as a marquee signing after winning the premiership with the Sydney Roosters last year, underwent minor knee surgery following the Eels’ 30-18 win over Wests Tigers a fortnight ago.
He will miss Saturday’s clash with the Warriors at Bankwest Stadium.
The side struggled without him during last week’s 36-24 loss to Manly and they go into round 19 in sixth spot just three points in front of the ninth placed Warriors.
Ferguson has made an average of 156m this season as well as contributing eight tries and four try assists.
