England winger Hall to ditch Leeds for NRL

England winger Ryan Hall is poised to move to the NRL after confirming he will leave Leeds at the end of the season.

Hall, who is out of contract and has rejected the Rhinos’ offer of a new deal, will bring to an end a 12-year spell of success with his hometown club.

“Naturally we are disappointed to lose a player of the quality of Ryan Hall,” Leeds director of rugby Kevin Sinfield said.

“The club were keen to keep him here and we made him an offer that reflected his standing in the game.”

Hall has attracted the interest of Sydney Roosters, who are seeking a replacement for Kangaroos winger Blake Ferguson when he leaves for Parramatta at the end of the season.

“I have had 12 amazing seasons as a Leeds Rhinos player and I am immensely proud of what we have achieved together,” said the 30-year-old, who joined the Rhinos as a junior in 2006.

“For me personally, I feel that this is the right time for a new challenge after such a long period at the club and my decision in no way reflects on the Rhinos.”

Hall is Leeds’ fifth highest tryscorer of all time with 232 in 327 appearances, and is a six-time grand final winner. He has also scored 36 tries in 38 matches for England and was part of the side that lost to Australia in last year’s Rugby League World Cup final.
