Fotuaika wins Titans player of year award

Teenage Gold Coast prop Moeaki Fotuaika has been named the Titans’ NRL player of the season.

The 19-year-old is the youngest winner of the Paul Broughton medal after picking up 22 votes to finish well ahead of fellow forwards Jarrod Wallace (14) and Kevin Proctor (14).

Fotuaika’s win comes after he recently re-signed with the Titans until the end of the 2022 season and having played through wrist, knee and ankle injuries during the season.

The Titans also created history by naming inaugural player Preston Campbell as the first life member of the club.

Campbell who is still actively involved in the club’s off-field staff played 103 NRL matches for the Titans before retiring in 2011.

The other major Titans award winners included representative forward Jai Arrow, who took home two awards as the Titans Members’ most valuable player and the winner of the coaches award.

Promising forward Jai Whitbread was named the Titans rookie of the year, while retiring fullback Michael Gordon was honoured with “The Preston” for his outstanding commitment and service to the club and his community.
