Fullback Mamo pens Warrington deal

Warrington have signed Australian full-back Jake Mamo from Huddersfield on a 12-month deal.

The 24-year-old former Newcastle Knights player scored 17 tries in 24 Super League appearances for the Giants but was not offered a new contract at the end of the 2018 season.

Warrington coach Steve Price said: “I’ve watched Jake closely for a number of years over in the NRL and also in the Super League at Huddersfield.

“He has a lot of quality attributes and brings a lot of enthusiasm. He competes really hard and can play in a number of positions – in a centre, wing, full-back type role. He’s going to be a great acquisition for our footy club.”

Mamo, who endured two injury-riddled seasons with Huddersfield, says he has unfinished business in England.

Mamo said: “I’ve been wanting to join a strong club for a long time so I’m excited for this opportunity.

“I’m looking forward to seeing what the year ahead holds. After speaking with Steve I’ve come here to improve and add value to this team wherever I can.

“I love the Super League and living in the UK so I wasn’t ready to go home yet.”
