I’m going nowhere: Rooster Kenny-Dowall

He’s heard the rumours and admits they were a concern, but Shaun Kenny-Dowall says he has no intentions of leaving the Sydney Roosters.

The New Zealand international centre is one of the NRL club’s longest-serving players having first linked up with the Roosters eight years ago after moving to Sydney as a backpacker from across the Tasman.

However, there’s been speculation the club have been shopping him around to other teams despite being under contract for a further two years.

“I have still two years to go and that is all I need to know,” Kenny-Dowall said on Thursday.

“I have heard stuff from fans in the street, but I am comfortable here at the Roosters.

“I’ve had a chat with the club and they have said I have another two years and that is where I left it.

“Nothing more has been said since and I am happy to leave it.”

Kenny-Dowall is one of several Kiwis at the Roosters and the centre said he feels well at home at the club and, if he were to leave, it would be a huge wrench.

“I would be silly to leave, especially now with the team going so well,” he said.

“I have plenty of friendships with all the Kiwi boys and also lots of friends with the Aussies as well.

“It makes it very homely here and I love it.”
