Kangaroos name World Cup train-on squad

Seven NRL players from the Gold Coast have been named in a Kangaroos train-on squad ahead of this year’s rugby league World Cup.

Players from the 18-man squad will also be selected for the Prime Minister’s XIII match against Papua New Guinea on September 29, to be announced next Monday.

State of Origin stars Nate Myles and Greg Bird are among the Titans featured, alongside four players each from Brisbane and Canberra.

St George Illawarra’s Brett Morris, Parramatta’s Jarryd Hayne and Robbie Farah of the Wests Tigers round out the squad.

Additional players will be named as clubs are eliminated from the NRL finals series.
