Knight Buhrer re-signs for 2019 NRL season

Newcastle co-captain Jamie Buhrer has re-signed for another NRL season.

The 28-year-old earned a one-year extension after playing 20 games for the Knights this season, starting just once.

“I always wanted to stay at the Knights,” said Buhrer, who left Manly for Newcastle in 2017.

“Since I arrived at the club only a few year ago, I’ve immediately felt at home.

“I’m confident the club is headed in the right direction and excited to be part of what I believe will be a very successful future.”

Knights player list manager Troy Pezet said Buhrer’s utility value and leadership on and off the field ensured the former NSW player remained at Newcastle in 2019.

“Jamie’s versatility is a great asset for the team but his best strength is his leadership,” he said.

“He’s a great mentor for our younger players. He’s someone who helps set the standards at training.”
