Munster in doubt for Origin III

Queensland five-eighth Cameron Munster is in doubt to play State of Origin III in Brisbane next week after failing a HIA on Wednesday night.

The Maroons star lasted just two minutes of Game II in Sydney after landing on his head following a heavy collision with NSW forward Tyson Frizell.

The 26-year-old Munster was wobbly on his feet as he attempted to stand up and was escorted up the tunnel by Maroons medical staff, where he failed the head injury assessment.

With just seven days until the clash at Suncorp Stadium, Munster will need to pass thorough stringent concussion protocols to play.

Should he be ruled out of the final game of the series it could open the door for rookie of the year Harry Grant to come into the side on the bench.

Utility Ben Hunt was shifted to the halves in Munster’s absence at ANZ Stadium and would be the logical starter at No.6 should the Melbourne ace be unavailable.

The Maroons have no other halves options in their 27-man squad after AJ Brimson was ruled out of the series with a foot injury.
