Parramatta have been rocked by an NRL investigation into photographs appearing to show forward Shaun Lane in possession of a white substance.
The NRL integrity unit is believed to be looking at two images, understood to be taken last year, of a man holding a plastic bag containing the substance.
The second photo shows the man, with the bag still in his hand, appearing to put something in his mouth.
News Corp Australia report the photos were taken during Manly’s end-of-season celebrations, which Lane was a part of before moving to the Eels this year.
“The integrity unit has been asked to investigate photographs which allegedly feature a Parramatta Eels player,” an NRL spokesperson said.
“The Parramatta Club is cooperating with the Integrity Unit.”
The 24-year-old had posted a separate number of photos on social media from the same celebrations, which included him dressing up as Forrest Gump.
The development come with the Eels on the cusp of sealing a stunning return to the finals, less than a year after finishing with the wooden spoon.
Brad Arthur’s side have won six of their past seven to sit in sixth spot with just four games remaining in the regular season.
And Lane has been an integral part of their campaign, starting in the second row for all 19 of the games he has played so far this season.
The Eels can clinch a spot in the finals with a win over Gold Coast on Friday.
