Queensland produced the biggest Origin upset since TAB offered sports betting in 1998 with their 18-14 triumph over New South Wales at the Adelaide Oval last night.
The Maroons were $3.70 outsiders at TAB when the opening game of the 2020 Origin series commenced and $9 was available before Alexander Brimson’s 50th-minute try and subsequent version from Daly Cherry-Evans narrowed the gap to 10-6.
One TAB customer was displeased with the shock result after placing $26,000 at $1.29 on the Blues before Origin 1 got underway.
Due to the upset in Origin 1, Queensland has shortened from $4 to $1.77 to win the 2020 State of Origin series with New South Wales $1.25 out to $2.05.
The $4 on offer for the Maroons was the longest price either team had been to win an Origin series before Game 1 dating back to 1998.
Despite the stunning turnaround last night, New South Wales are $1.35 favourites at TAB to win Origin 2 over Queensland ($3.25) at ANZ Stadium on Wednesday night.
