Parramatta Eels vs Penrith Panthers Preview
Round 4 kicks off with a Grand Final rematch, which holds extra significance for the Parramatta Eels. They aim to avoid starting the season 0-4 when they host the Penrith Panthers on Thursday night. Since the beginning of 2016, only one team (Manly, 2021) has made the finals following a 0-4 start.
Defence is the key issue for Parramatta, who have conceded 80 points and 14 tries through three rounds. On the other hand, the Panthers avoided Sydney’s extreme heat last week and are well-rested off a bye after beating the Rabbitohs 16-10 in Round 2 to square their season ledger at 1-1.
There is just one change for the reigning premiers as Matt Eisenhuth drops to 18th man with the return of Scott Sorensen to the bench. Meanwhile, the Eels have Ryan Matterson available for the first time this season, which moves Matt Doorey back to the bench, while backup hooker Brendan Hands will make his debut.
Head To Head Bet
We're tipping Penrith Panthers to win at $1.36 odds.
