Arguably no match in Round 17 is clouded by State of Origin like Penriths Sunday afternoon showdown against North Queensland, with 11 players involved in Wednesdays MCG clash.
The Panthers five Blues have been named in the starting line-up, while five of the Cowboys reps have been named in the reserves with Jeremiah Nanai rested.
Mitch Kenny and Jack Cole bolster the Panthers spine after missing the Manly game, while Matt Eisenhuth takes Trent Toelaus place on the bench.
The second-placed Panthers continued to collect wins without Nathan Cleary, outlasting Manly (32-22) and Newcastle (26-18) before last weekends bye.
The Cowboys have edged back into the Top 8 by winning four of their last five, but a woeful 42-12 home loss to the Warriors in Round 14 looks to be just as representative of their current status as a surprise 34-16 win in Canberra in their last start.
The Panthers have won six of their last eight against the Cowboys, whose two victories were against a team resting players pre-finals and an Origin depleted line-up.
The Panthers won 44-12 at home late last season and held on 26-20 in Townsville in Round 8 this year.
The Cowboys are shooting for three straight wins south of the border but the Panthers have lost just five of their last 46 games at home and are much more adept at overcoming the rigours of Origin.
