Sydney Roosters are set to play three games over the next three seasons in Western Australia, according to reports.
The NRL premiers are said to have agreed to fulfil one fixture a year at Perth’s HBF Park until the end of 2022, building on the success of the city’s recent hosting of State of Origin II.
A new partnership between the Roosters and the Western Australian government is to be revealed on Tuesday morning, Newscorp reports, replacing the current three-year deal the franchise struck with South Australia to play one game each season in Adelaide.
The move is designed to capitalise on the growing popularity of rugby league throughout Western Australia.
It follows news that fellow NRL giants Canterbury Bulldogs will also take one home game a year to Perth from 2020 onwards while Sydney’s ANZ Stadium is redeveloped.
