Rapira extends Warriors contract

Warriors prop Sam Rapira has committed to the club to the end of the 2015 NRL season.

The 26-year-old forward, who was off contract at the end of next year, has added another season to a career that began at the New Zealand club as a 19-year-old in 2006.

Of the 2013 squad, only centre Jerome Ropati (2003), winger Manu Vatuvei (2004) and captain Simon Mannering (2005) have served for longer at the Warriors than Rapira.

He made his 150th appearance in the 50-16 win over the Raiders last weekend and will start their final regular season match against St George Illawarra in Wollongong on Saturday.

Rapira has missed just two games this year following an injury-disrupted 2012 campaign.

The 13-Test Kiwi’s consistency was praised by Warriors general manager football operations Dean Bell.

“While he’s still only 26 he is one of our most experienced players, one who has proved his quality time and time again and will continue to do so,” Bell said.
