Cronulla star Andrew Fifita is facing two to three weeks suspension for a grade two shoulder charge from his NRL team’s Monday night season-opening loss to Gold Coast.
Fifita was charged by the match review committee over a 69th minute tackle in which he caught Titans winger David Mead on the jaw with his shoulder.
He faces a two-week ban with an early guilty plea and will risk three weeks if he contests the matter.
It proved a black night for the Sharks, who lost skipper Paul Gallen to an ankle injury which could keep him out for several weeks.
Two of their teammates, Siosaia Vave and Michael Gordon were also charged by the match review committee.
Vave faces a one-week ban for a dangerous contact on Titans fullback William Zillman while Gordon was charged with tripping Gold Coast halfback Albert Kelly but does not face a suspension.
