South Sydney Rabbitohs vs Canberra Raiders 2014 NRL Round 4 preview, tips and teams

South Sydney have not been the punters pal so far in 2014.

As outsiders, they defeated premiers the Roosters in the opening round and then as short priced favourites, they have been rolled in the past fortnight by firstly Manly and then last week, very unexpectedly, by the Tigers 25 – 16.

Had it not been for two last South Sydney tries in the final four minutes of the game, the score-line would have read much worse

In both losses, South Sydney’s poor handling and decision making has resulted in errors totally 14 and 15 respectively. It has also prevented them from building momentum and placing their opponents under extended periods of pressure. The Raiders were also frowned upon by punters last when going down to the Titans 24 – 12.

It was the Raiders first home-game of the year and coming off a good win the week prior against the Knights at Newcastle, the Raiders would’ve been bitterly disappointed in letting in two late Titans tries that sealed their fate, especially when the majority of stats form the game ended well in their favour.

South have won each of the past five clashes between the two sides and in the last four, have scored 32 points or more with an average winning margin of 24.75 points.

South Sydney, $6.00 second favourites for this year’s premiership, need to lift on recent weeks and quickly. They’ll get the opportunity to do so here but must display a more patience game.

Greg Inglis, who was desperately missed by South Sydney when he left the field in the first half of last week’s match, has been named in the line-up along with Dylan Walker and Chris McQueen.

Isaac Luke is out with suspension and he is replaced by Fijian Apisai Koroisau. For the Raiders, Lock Shaun Fensom returns from suspension and Bill Topou steps in for injured Edrick Lee. South Sydney should get their mojo back here and repay punters with a big win.
