Storm sign five-eighth Green from 2015

Wigan five-eighth Blake Green will join NRL club Melbourne in November after agreeing to a two-year deal.

The Storm confirmed the signing on Wednesday, a day after the out-of-contract Green announced he was leaving Wigan and returning to Australia at the end of the English Super League season.

The 27-year-old Green, who was man of the match in Wigan’s grand final win last October, joined Wigan from Hull KR in 2013 having previously played for NRL clubs Canterbury, Parramatta and Cronulla.

He is currently sidelined with a ruptured bicep.

Green’s signing is a boost for the Storm, who’ve struggled at five-eighth following the departure of Gareth Widdop to rivals St George-Illawarra.

Ben Hampton, Ben Roberts and Joel Romelo have all played in the No.6 with each finishing injured or suspended.

Skipper Cameron Smith even had a crack in that position in the first-half of Sunday’s 32-12 hammering by the Sydney Roosters at AAMI Park but didn’t look like the answer.
