Sydney Roosters vs Manly Sea Eagles Preview
The Sydney Roosters are coming off a bruising loss to the Penrith Panthers, and they face a rejuvenated Manly Sea Eagles side in a crucial clash. The Roosters were down 24-0 at halftime last weekend, and although they found some second-half resolve, it was too little, too late. Without their star halfback Sam Walker, Sandon Smith struggled under the pressure, and questions surround whether Joey Manu will shift to five-eighth to help direct the side.
The Roosters’ forward pack is bolstered by the return of veteran Jared Waerea-Hargreaves, while Victor Radley may also feature, adding much-needed experience.
Manly, on the other hand, is riding high after a thrilling 24-22 win over the Bulldogs. Daly Cherry-Evans and Luke Brooks orchestrated the comeback, while Tom Trbojevic found his form late in the match despite struggling early on. The Sea Eagles’ speed and strike power out wide, particularly through Tolu Koula, were pivotal, while their forwards, led by Haumole Olakau’atu and Matt Lodge, were impressive.
Manly has already beaten the Roosters once this season, but the Roosters’ strong record at Allianz Stadium may give them an edge. However, with DCE in commanding form and Trbojevic finding his groove, the Sea Eagles pose a real threat and could pull off another upset.
