Preview:
The Roosters made it back to back wins when they recorded their fourth victory of the season last week over the Dragons, 34 – 14.
For only the second time this season, the Roosters scored early – inside of the first ten minutes, and as they did on the first occasion against Parramatta in Round 2, went on to register plenty of points with six tries.
The early points give the Roosters confidence in attack and they were prepared to chance their arm a little whereas in previous games, when playing from behind on the scoreboard, their attack could become a little predictable.
The win, described by Coach Robinson described as the Roosters’ “best performance of the year”, comes at just the right time for the Roosters who firstly needed the win, but also face an improving Cowboys outfit and then the Bulldogs in rounds 10 and 11 respectively.
The Tigers will be backing up after losing their last match to the Gold Coast Titans at Leichhardt, 22 – 6.
The Titians scored in the sixth minute and managed to maintain the upper-hand for the majority of the first half, despite missing Nate Myles who was sin-binned for ten and Titans halfback Albert Kelly leaving the field in the 23rd with an ankle injury.
Too many errors from the Tigers saw them trail at the break 16 – 0.
The Tigers scored first in the second half, giving them some hope but the Titans responded ten minutes later to keep the advantage intact and eventually, close out the game.
A crucial no-try ruling in the first half didn’t help the Tigers cause but they had their opportunities throughout the game to claw the margin back but poor execution was their downfall.
The Tigers backline will be missing Braith Anasta and suspended Tim Simona this week with Blake Austin and Keith Lulia filling their positions respectively.
It was only the Tigers third loss of the season and whilst they’ve snuck up on a few teams so far this year, the Roosters, who have named a full strength side for this match, will be aware of their abilities.
The Roosters have won the last three games against the Tigers and on each occasion, have recorded more then forty points in the process.
In fact the last three games, which the Roosters have won by an average of 26 points, have produced total match scores of 70, 64 and 70.
With the Tigers already averaging 23 points per game this season and the Roosters finding some rhythm in attack last week, another high-scoring affair could be on the cards again this week

News:
Wests Tigers are unlikely to take a gamble on Robbie Farah in Friday night’s high-stakes NRL clash against the Sydney Roosters, despite the skipper pushing hard for a miracle return.
Farah is desperate to make an early comeback from a dislocated elbow to help relieve the Tigers’ personnel crisis against the defending premiers.
But Tigers officials are likely to advise their star hooker to rest for another week.
The initial prognosis for Farah was at least six weeks on the sidelines, which would have had him in doubt for the first State of Origin clash on May 28.
Farah’s speedy recovery has surprised club officials, but it’s thought rushing him back after just three weeks out would be a bridge too far.
If Farah doesn’t take to the park at Allianz Stadium, it presents the Tigers with a huge mountain to climb as they try to hold on to their top-four position against the fifth-placed Roosters.
The Tigers are also missing key attacking weapon James Tedesco, five-eighth Braith Anasta, back-rower Curtis Sironen and prop Sausaso Sue through injury, and have Liam Fulton (back) in doubt. They have also lost Tim Simona and Mitchell Moses to suspension.
It doesn’t bode well for the Tigers, whose understrength side struggled for cohesion against Gold Coast two weeks ago at Leichhardt.
NSW front-row candidate Aaron Woods will be charged with taking the fight to the Roosters’ feared forward pack, and Tigers coach Mick Potter says his team won’t back down despite the adversity they face.
“We probably could do with a couple more weeks off to get a few back,” he said.
“Aaron’s played the whole year and I don’t expect anything less from him the way his form’s been. I think he’ll maintain that and I hope he gets selected for NSW … he’s doing everything right.”
The Roosters are set to lose French recruit Remi Casty from their bench to a hamstring injury, and reports suggest Dylan Napa will take his place in the 17.
Ruling him out would be a bitter blow for Casty, who played the World Club Challenge but repeated leg injuries since then have robbed him of making his NRL debut.
The Roosters have named James Maloney and Michael Jennings to make premature returns from injury, and the duo will look to sew up their State of Origin jerseys for NSW.
