Taupau wants NRL success with Manly

Manly prop Martin Taupau is the latest player to re-commit to the club, signing a two-year contract extension until the end of 2022.

The 29-year-old was off-contract at the end of next season but has extended his deal with the Sea Eagles just weeks after Trbojevic brothers Tom and Jake re-signed.

One of the premier props in the NRL, Taupau said he was eager to stay with the Sea Eagles to continue the run of success they started under coach Des Hasler in 2019.

Under Hasler’s guidance, the Sea Eagles finished sixth on the NRL ladder and made the semi-finals despite a horror injury toll.

He wants to go even deeper into the finals in 2020.

“This club means a lot to me and has given me a lot of opportunities in the last couple of years and the opportunity to build our great team and our great club,” Taupau told the Sea Eagles website.

“There’s definitely a special feeling, we all felt it as a team driving to the finals.

“The way the boys have come back to the preseason and the fact that we’ve kept the majority of our teammates together and developing our junior players means there’s something special here.

“We’re very excited and I think our fans can be excited.”
