Titans star still not confident: Brennan

Gold Coast star Garth Brennan admits star halfback Ash Taylor has yet to recapture his confidence, but isn’t concerned about his form just yet.

Taylor struggled to make an impact in the Titans’ 30-14 loss to the Wests Tigers in Tamworth on Saturday, snapping a two-game winning streak.

Brennan described Taylor’s form as “mixed” since coming back from a quad injury a month ago, however still has faith in the 24-year-old to find his mojo.

Asked if he expected more from Taylor, Brennan said: “Yeah, I probably do.

“But he’s had a few injuries this year and he’s not quite there. He probably doesn’t have the confidence to come up with the plays that he’d like to.

“But I’m not too concerned at this point. We’ll keep working with Ash.”

The Titans will be left to rue a 14-0 lead disappear in the space of 12 minutes in the first half, when the Tigers stunned Brennan’s men with a three-try blitz.

From there Tigers were rarely threatened, adding two more tries in the second half to punish an ill-disciplined Gold Coast outfit.

“There was a bit of a momentum swing there in that first half and we just didn’t handle it real well,” Brennan said.

“We tend to panic and we gave away too many penalties with poor discipline trying to force our way back into the game instead of rolling the sleeves up and doing some hard work to get ourselves back into the game.

“You can’t do that in the NRL.”
