The Taipans have hit a serious purple patch winning four games on the trot, while the Breakers have gone one better winning five. Nobody saw either of these winning streaks coming, making this by far the toughest game to tip of the entire round.
There isn’t as much separating these two teams as the market suggests. Both sides are averaging close to 92 points-per-game, but it appears the bookies are factoring in the Taipans’ 8-3 mark at home.
As their 4-6 record suggests, the Breakers have always been a team that struggles on the road. That said, you can’t discount four away wins against the Hawks, Bullets, 36ers and Phoenix in succession.
The -6.5 line looks a little too long for mine when you consider the Kiwis have seen four of their last five games decided by six points or less. New Zealand has also been the second-best team to back against the line this year, so take the Breakers to cover.
