The Wolf’s value bet of the round comes from the final game in Round 2, which sees the Illawarra Hawks host the Cairns Taipans.
As mentioned above, the Hawks were disappointing in Round 1 when they lost to the Bullets. And as also mentioned above, the Taipans lost to the Kings in Round 1 after a fairly promising first three quarters.
We’re only one round through the season, so there’s no true measure of form, however, the Taipans have a better mixture of youth and experience on their roster, which could play a big factor here early in the season.
Moreover, coming back home to play on Monday after a trip to Perth to play the champs on Friday is just about the hardest task the Hawks with face all season, so if there’s ever a time for the Taipans to cause an upset, it’s this Monday night.
