Let’s be honest, the Hornets sucked against the Cavs – but as a punter it did provide us with some player prop insights early in the season.

Charlotte paid Gordon Hayward $32m per year in the off-season, and although he was simply just a role player with the Celtics surrounded by the likes of Jayson Tatum, Kemba Walker and Jaylen Brown, it’s easy to forget that he’s still more than capable of getting buckets.

Terry Rozier stole the show for the Hornets in their opener with 42 points including 10 triples, but Hayward popped up with 28 points from 18 shot attempts.

In last year’s post-season Hayward missed a fair chunk through injury, but his form in the bubble prior to injury was pretty good averaging 18.7 points from the seven games, whilst averaging 13.3 field goal attempts.

Hayward sacrificed his game with Boston and is the ultimate team player, but at the Hornets the new norm is 18 field goal attempts a game – perhaps more.

Expect Hayward to score 20+ when he takes on the Thunder in their first game of the season.
