Australia’s fastest greyhounds will be in action at Sandown across the next week, which is as good a time as any for TAB to launch a promotion giving customers a shot at winning a share of $100,000.

The TAB Phoenix Pursuit is now open with customers invited to nominate which Jason Thompson-trained runner they think TAB should select as its runner in the $750,000-to-the-winner TAB Phoenix at The Meadows on December 18.

Five customers who nominate the greyhound selected to represent TAB will become part-owners for the night and win $20,000 each if the selected dog wins The Phoenix.

Entries are being taken until next Friday, November 26, which coincides with the Melbourne Cup Final at Sandown.

The Melbourne Cup heats will be run tonight with Jason Thompson, who TAB has teamed with for the inaugural running of the TAB Phoenix, well represented across the night with Aussie Secret, Immunity, Rebellious, True Collinda and Typhoon Sammy all engaged.

Typhoon Sammy and Rebellious are both $8 chances in TAB’s Pre-Nominations market on The Phoenix, Aston Fastnet is $12, Aussie Secret $17 with Immunity and True Collinda both $21.

Rebellious is $2.90 second favourite for tonight’s eighth Melbourne Cup heat, while Immunity is $4.40 second favourite behind Koblenz in Heat 1. Typhoon Sammy is $4.20 second favourite in Heat 3, Aussie Secret is $4.80 equal second favourite in Heat 6, while True Collinda is a $5.50 chance in Heat 7.

Rebellious, at $7.50, is the shortest-priced Thompson-trained greyhound in TAB’s All-In market on the Melbourne Cup Final, which is headed by Aston Rupee at $4.
