One TAB punter is confident that LeBron James can secure his fourth NBA championship next month after placing a $100,000 bet at $2.40 on the Los Angeles Lakers to win the 2019/2020 NBA championship.
The Lakers have not won an NBA title since the 2009/2010 season but with James and last year’s off-season acquisition Anthony Davis leading the way, the Lakers are now $2.30 title favourites at TAB.
If the Lakers claim the Larry O’Brien trophy next month, it will be their 17th championship in franchise history and first since five-time champion Kobe Bryant retired in 2016.
“The $100,000 wager on the Lakers to win this season’s NBA title is easily the biggest bet on any team to win the 2019/2020 championship,” TAB’s Trent Langskaill said.
“The Lakers are awaiting their Western Conference Finals opponent as the Los Angeles Clippers and Denver Nuggets will play Game 7 in their second round series on Wednesday morning Australian time after the Nuggets overturned double-digit second-half deficits in Games 5 and 6.”
The Eastern Conference Finals begin Wednesday morning Australian time with the Boston Celtics – the Lakers arch rival – facing the Miami Heat.
