NSW Waratahs coach Daryl Gibson will go into the Super Rugby season this week with his contract extended to the end of 2020.
New Zealander Gibson took over as head coach from Michael Cheika after the 2015 campaign and three seasons as an assistant coach.
Gibson’s extension provides NSW with stability and consistency as the 2014 champions aiming to make the finals under his reign for the second year in succession, having been eliminated in the 2018 semi-finals by the Lions.
“It is a real privilege to continue to serve NSW rugby for another season,” Gibson said.
“I’ve been very open that I want to bring the next generation through as well as bed down the systems we have been working hard to put in place to keep our best rugby talent in the game.”
The Waratahs’ Super Rugby campaign kicks off on Saturday night at Brookvale Oval against the Hurricanes.
