Fijian-born winger Tino Nemani will make his Highlanders debut in the only starting change for their Super Rugby match against the Southern Kings at Port Elizabeth.
Nemani, 21, replaces Phil Burleigh on the right wing on Sunday morning (AEST) from the team who beat the Sharks 25-22 in Dunedin last weekend, their first win of the season.
Burleigh injured his shoulder and didn’t travel with the squad.
Hawke’s Bay flyer Nemani played four games for the Chiefs last year and was named in the Highlanders’ wider training squad this season.
Another change sees Mose Tuiali’i included on the reserve bench in place of Elliot Dixon after recovering from a knee injury.
Impressive No.8 TJ Ioane has overcome a calf niggle and will start against the Kings, who sit one point and one place ahead of the last-placed Highlanders.
Highlanders: Ben Smith, Tino Nemani, Tamati Ellison, Shaun Treeby, Hosea Gear, Colin Slade, Aaron Smith, TJ Ioane, John Hardie, Jarrad Hoeata, Josh Bekhuis, Brad Thorn, Chris King, Andrew Hore (capt), Tony Woodcock.
