Brumbies coach Jake White has reportedly quit with two years still left on his contract at the Super Rugby club.
White asked for a release on Wednesday, according to News Limited, and the franchise are expected to grant his wish despite him being signed with the Canberra-based side until the end of the 2015 season.
The 50-year-old South African missed out on the Wallabies coaching job in July when Queensland coach Ewen McKenzie was chosen to replace Robbie Deans.
White, who coached South Africa to a World Cup title in 2007, has recently indicated his desire to return to the international scene.
He has had great success at the Brumbies, taking a no-frills team to this year’s Super Rugby final where they were defeated by the Chiefs.
The Johannesburg-born White was spotted in Cape Town a few weeks ago at a training session for Currie Cup team Western Province.
