Troubled Wallabies rugby star Kurtley Beale has been stood down indefinitely and fined an undisclosed sum after punching two of his Melbourne Rebels teammates.
The Australian Rugby Union and Rebels Super Rugby club issued statements on Thursday night confirming the gifted utility back had agreed he needed to deal with off-field issues before returning to the game.
He will undergo counselling as part of his rehabilitation.
The ARU said he had been fined a “substantial” amount, admitting his guilt and foregoing the opportunity to have his case heard by a disciplinary tribunal.
Beale had lashed out at Rebels skipper Gareth Delve and then teammate Cooper Vuna on the team bus following a heavy loss to the Sharks in Durban last Sunday (AEDT).
