Pumas make five changes for Wallabies

Argentina have named a new-look backline for Saturday night’s Test against the Wallabies in Perth.

The Pumas were competitive in last week’s 28-13 loss to the All Blacks, but coach Santiago Phelan has decided to make five changes to his starting line-up, with four of those coming in the backline.

Scrumhalf Tomas Cubelli will make his first start of the Rugby Championship in place of Martin Landajo, while Felipe Contepomi and Gonzalo Tiesi have been promoted to starting roles in the midfield.

The final change to the backline is a forced one, with winger Juan Imhoff replacing the injured Gonzalo Camacho (dislocated shoulder).

The forward pack that performed so well against NZ is largely untouched, with the only change being the promotion of hooker Agustin Creevy in place of Eusebio Guinazu.

Argentina haven’t beaten the Wallabies since recording an 18-16 win in Buenos Aires in 1997.

Their sole victory in Australia came in 1983, when they posted an 18-3 triumph in Brisbane.
