Scotland’s rugby team is likely to be without one of its few star players for the coming Tests against Japan, South Africa and Australia after fullback Stuart Hogg was forced to undergo surgery on an injured wrist.
Hogg, who toured Australia with the British and Irish Lions this year, was injured playing for Glasgow against Leinster three weeks ago.
Interim Scotland coach Scott Johnson said on Friday: “Are we counting Hoggy out of the autumn Tests? Yeah, probably.”
After hosting Japan on November 9, the Scots play the Springboks on November 17 and the Walabies a week later.
The pacey Hogg was arguably Scotland’s top performer in this year’s Six Nations tournament.
