World champions South Africa won’t play in the Rugby Championship in a massive blow to the tournament.
SANZAAR confirmed on Friday that the South African team had withdrawn from the tournament in Australia, against the Wallabies, All Blacks and Argentina.
Citing player welfare among the reasons for the withdrawal, the competition will now proceed as a Tri-Nations, getting underway later this month.
