Aston Villa’s bubble finally burst last weekend, suffering their first loss of the season after four straight wins – including that 7-2 drubbing of Liverpool. Villa went into halftime with Leeds United locked nil-all but crumbled to a 3-0 defeat.

Fellow overachievers Southampton, meanwhile, continue to fly their flag high. Since losing their opening two games, the Saints have chalked up three wins and a draw. They followed up a 3-all draw at Chelsea with a 2-0 upset of competition front-runners Everton, Che Adams scoring in both games.

Southampton are unbeaten in their last eight against Villa, winning both encounters last season by two-goal margins. Danny Ings scored a goal in each half at Villa Park last year.

Southampton have the momentum but Aston Villa have been near flawless besides a 20-minute period against Leeds. A tentative lean towards the hosts in this one.
