Manchester City defender Micah Richards is set to miss up to four months of the season following an operation on his right knee.
Richards was carried off on a stretcher during Manchester City’s 1-0 win in the Premier League match against Swansea on Saturday.
He underwent surgery on his torn meniscus on Monday.
“I have a brace on it and I am using crutches,” Richards said.
“I can’t do anything at all for the next four to six weeks and I am probably looking at 12-16 weeks before I am back in action.”
Richards missed the start of the season with a right ankle injury.
City’s other right backs Pablo Zabaleta and offseason signing Maicon are both due to return soon from injury.
